Running

I finally bit the bullet and started a blog. I'm doing it because I'll be asking friends, family and strangers alike for money and I figure they might be interested to see what exactly is going behind my requests.

Last year, I decided to break through the half marathon mileage barrier and I signed up for the 21 mile distance at the Big Sur International Marathon. Bear in mind that I am NOT running the full marathon, just 21 miles. Ha! Given the fact that none of my runner friends or family signed up with me, I'm guessing they think that I am koo-koo. Sometime, I suspect they know better than me about that one.

Right around New Year's, Hubby and I sat down and laid individual goals for 2008. Running a marathon (26.2 miles) was one of my goals. Somehow, I found out that Team in Training was creating a team to the Edinburgh marathon in Scotland at the end of May. The idea took hold and I took the plunge - I dropped $150 and signed with TNT. Now, come hell or high water, I need to raise at least $4,800, consistently train 4 days a week and sweat a LOT to make my goal a reality.

If you're interested, I will be posting my stats, my training runs and probably the random musings that occur to me while I'm out there hitting the Oakland pavement for 10, 12, 15 miles at at time.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for your support.

I am interested. And no, I won't be joining you at Big Sur, but I also don't think you're koo-koo.
