Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I hope you're wearing green today or else some naughty lepruchaun might pinch you on the booty.

Let's see here...last week turned into a recovery week in which my mileage went down rather than up. I still got out there and ran 4 times. My weekend long run was 12 miles and it was a nice change of pace from my normal long runs. The Hubby and I have been together 6 years and he decided to surprise me with an overnight date in a mystery location. Never mind that I guessed it right away - he wouldn't divulge but still, I made a darn good educated guess. Hubby took me to The Sawyer Creek Trail near Half Moon Bay. We used to train there each weekend when we lived in Fog City. It's a great trail with porta potties, mile markers and a couple of water fountains. During the summer months you have a pretty good chance of seeing a lot of deer, fawns and rabbits. Hubby almost stepped on a snake once. That was exciting. Good times, my friends, good times.

I ran faster than I normally do at home on the hilly stuff but I actually didn't run as fast as I thought I would. Well, anyway, I was able to maintain a sub-10 minute mile pace average over the 12 mile course which is better than my half marathon paces. I guess that is something. It was rough going in the beginning because my left leg had a massive shin splint going on. Fortunately, I had signed up for Podfitness (unknowlingly..don't ask) and I downloaded a mrathon training program created by Jeff Galloway. He's big into running a bit then walking for a minute and honestly, it ended up being my saving grace. After the first 3 miles my shin did not bother me. Yay Galloway!

This week I need to buckle down and pick up the mileage again. This marathon training is hard work!

Oh, in case you are checking up on my fundraising progress, you should know that I actually have raised over $3,000 raised so far. It takes times for the processing center to post money into the accounts. If you are reading this and are on the fence about donating because you are thinking that it looks like I might not make my minimum, rest assured I am on fire thanks to the generosity of many people to date! If you aren't one of them yet, please donate.

Thanks! I'll try to do a mid-week post this week.
